Abstract :
The Indian Higher Education sector has been recognized as a “Sunrise Sector” for investment in the recent past. With an estimated 150 million people in the age group of 18-23 years, the sector offers one of the most attractive yet highly complex market. This paper provides an overview of the challenges and opportunities in the sector, presents possible solutions such as blended and online education to overcome such challenges, and identifies actions to implement the solutions effectively by introducing importance of mapping academic and institutional processes to technology ERP systems while equally focusing on the need for administrators and academicians to recast themselves into “new avatars” of facilitators and collaborators.
