Abstract :
This paper presents a fuzzy based approach for 3PL (Third Party Logistics) selection. A multi criteria decision making (MCDM) is used for 3PL evaluation. The MCDM proposal for 3PL evaluation incorporates the decisions of multiple decision makers belonging to the Performance Evaluation Team (PET) constituted by a buyer company. The selection is based on overall score obtained by the 3PL. The fuzzy logic helps in incorporating the vagueness in decision making and enhances the reliability and credibleness of the process. An illustrative case is used to demonstrate the methodology. It may prove to be useful for a buyer firm for 3PL selection.
