  • Abstract
The present work presents an integrated hybrid predictive control strategy to optimize the real time operations of a public transport system, where the control actions applied dynamically to buses are combined with signal priority strategies. A traffic simulator is integrated into a simulation platform of a public transport system. Each of the strategies proposed is tested and validated separately as well as under an integrated scheme. This methodology allows confirming the advantages of the integration of traffic signals with other typical actions, in this case holding buses at specific bus stops and station skipping. The integrated strategy generates promising results, reducing the waiting times in about 45% and delays in traffic signals in 56%, with respect to an open loop control system.
