Abstract :
In the paper “An Analytical Solution for Tracking Photovoltaic Module MPP” by Farivar et al. (IEEE J. Photovolt., vol. 3, no. 3, pp. 1053-1061, Jul. 2013), a new method for approximating the maximum power point of a solar panel that is based on a single-diode equivalent circuit characteristic equation was proposed. The technique was shown to be computationally efficient and capable of retrieving the maximum power point in one step. The purpose of this note is complementing the method proposed by Farivar et al. by analytically demonstrating its validity.
