  • Abstract
    Conventional PI regulators had demonstrated not to guaranty a satisfactory dynamic performance in the speed control of switched reluctance machines, mainly due to its non-linear characteristic. Therefore, taking into account the recognized potential of fuzzy controllers in establishing a non-linear control structure, we present the design and implementation of a fuzzy logic speed controller for a switched reluctance machine. The highlight is initially the development of the fuzzy speed control methodology for these machines through a simulation study. After, the paper analyses the potential of this technique in the speed control of SR drives by implementation of the fuzzy controller achieved in the simulation tests. Several experimental results are presented showing the performance of the controller in the presence of load and variation of speed set points.
