Abstract :
An innovative tool has been developed to assist engineering students in understanding some basic digital signal processing techniques and psychoacoustic principles, and their application to MPEG-1 audio standard. This GUI-based software tool gives the students the possibility of effective home learning. This type of materials, specifically focused on self-learning, plays a key role in the teaching philosophy promoted by the European Space for Higher Education.
