Abstract :
Due to hard limits on exciter output voltage neither adaptive power system stabilizer nor nonlinear excitation control systems designed based on feedback linearization technique can improve the fast swing stability under severe fault conditions. To enhance the first swing stability, a fuzzy fastvalving controller is proposed in this paper. This fastvalving controller coordinates with an adaptive power system stabilizer (PSS) thereby improving the fast swing stability as well as the subsequent small signal oscillations at all operating conditions. The proposed controller is validated through digital computer simulation studies on a single machine, infinite bus (SMIB) systems.
