Abstract
This paper deals with the active suppression of the vibrations of exible appendages of a satellite during large angle attitude maneuvers. Piezoelectric actuators bonded to the exible booms are used to actively damp the vibrations arising in these attitude maneuvers. A dynamic controller is designed in order to achieve both active vibration suppression and slew maneuver, using only the spacecraft attitude parameters and angular velocity. Simulation results show the practical feasibility of such a control scheme.
