Abstract :
This paper proposes a hierarchically distributed architecture for WAMPAC system within a large-scale interconnected power system including two new components, M-WAMPAC and D-WAMPAC, are introduced for this architecture. The definition of D-WAMPAC intends to enable independent operation of system operators within the interconnected system. But, even though every system operator is allowed to operate individually, M-WAMPAC maintains the wide-area situational awareness of the whole power system and coordinates distributed wide-area protection and control of the large-scale interconnected system through cooperative work between D-WAMPACs.
