Abstract :
This paper presents the performance analysis of various control and modulation methods of Z-source inverter (ZSI). The ZSI employs a unique impedance network consisting of L & C elements which couples the voltage source and the converter circuit. It overcomes the difficulties in the traditional voltage source inverter (VSI) and current source inverter (CSI). To analyze the performance of different control and modulation methods of ZSI, a single phase and three phase ZSI with simple boost control, maximum boost control and constant boost control are implemented and simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. A hardware experimental setup of single and three phase (0.5 KVA) Z-source inverter are designed and simple boost control method is implemented with analogue controller and PIC microcontroller (PIC18F452) respectively. It is observed that ZSI provides wide range of output voltage by utilizing the shoot through mode and constant boost control method provides better performance.
