  • Abstract
    Sri Lanka is very famous for metal industries for centuries. There are ample of evidence that as an island this industry was there for centuries. However, currently survived industry related to this category is local traditional Brass manufacturing industry. Over the centuries this industry survived with numerous difficulties and knowledge and know how has been passed from one generation to another within single caste. With the rapid globalization, currently this industry facing many issues and this will leads to get away from this industry. Therefore, this research is carried out to identify technology requirements as well as what are the challenges faced in the total supply chain of it. A detail technology Need Assessment is carried out to cover wider area of the industry which includes business aspects, design and manufacturing process etc. A structured questionnaire was prepared to carry out a survey and detailed discussion and visits related observations also taken into account in the analysis. It was identified eleven key issues which needs to be addressed.
