Abstract :
Network Control and Management System (NCMS) is commissioned at network control centre for the networking of remote satellite terminals deployed over a large area under the footprint of satellite. NCMS optimally utilizes the precious satellite resources, manages and monitors the remote terminals and performs the administrative, operational and the network management functions. To accomplish its functionalities, indigenously developed NCMS discussed in this paper implements some tightly coupled active processes running inside it that interact with each other and collectively achieve the desired functionalities. In circuit switched networking scenario, SCPC DAMA technology offers efficient allocation of the satellite resources on call-by-call basis. Hot-stand-by based design of NCMS allows it to provide 24*7*365 operation. The paper discusses the basic concept and technology of NCMS based on SCPC DAMA.
