Abstract :
The increasing demand of communication systems has emphasized on low cost and small RF/Microwave transceiver. In this paper a compact Asymmetric Coplanar Waveguide (ACPW) fed monopole antenna is designed and fabricated on high resistivity silicon (HR-Si). Being uni-planar in nature the proposed antenna is a potential candidate for Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuits (MMIC). For transreceivers fabricated on silicon chip using CMOS technology, this antenna doesn´t need additional steps in process flow for fabrication. ACPW fed monopole antenna provides impedance bandwidth of 250 MHz at 1.8 GHz with a gain of ~ 2 dBi in the entire band with an Omni directional radiation pattern.
