Abstract :
The growing complexity of field devices and their use in even more complex fieldbus networks lead to various problems for the user. This paper presents a concept for an intelligent PC-based tool which can help users to handle these problems. The tool combines the advantages of object-oriented methodologies with a knowledge-based approach and a flexible fieldbus interface. The main aspects of implementation and use are discussed.
