Abstract
In this paper the problem of reconfiguration in fault tolerant control systems is addressed. The conditions for successful reconfigurations (i.e. recoverability) are first, formulated for the general hybrid fault-tolerant control system. For linear systems the condition is shown to reduce to checking observability and controllability subspaces Of the faulty system. It is suggested that measures for observability and controllability are used to determine the degree of recoverability. Finally some consequences of recoverability for fault tolerant control and xi example are provided.
