Abstract :
A new order reduction technique for linear state-space models is derived. It is based on Eitelberg´s minimisation of the weighted equation error and the concepts of the balancing methods, i.e. the analysis of controllability and observability. The modified Eitelberg method has some interesting properties and is very accurate. Some realistic applications are given to demonstrate the advantage of the new method in comparison with Eitelberg´s original and the balancing methods.
