Abstract :
The aim is to allow a target tracker to exploit bounds on target motion, e.g. on cross-track acceleration or along-track velocity. An alternative to the pseudo-measurement method of imposing bounds, projecting into the feasible set any target state estimate conflicting with a bound, is examined. Simulations of an IMM tracker illustrate how imposing target-capability bounds can improve tracking. Use of infringements of target-capability bounds to aid target identification is briefly discussed.
