Abstract :
The paper concerns continuous-variable systems with quantised measurements. From an external viewpoint such a system behaves like a discrete-event system which in general possesses a nondeterministic behaviour. This paper investigates the problem of representing the quantised system by a stochastic automaton. The properties of different classes of quantised systems are discussed and the effects occurring by setting up a stochastic automaton as a model are investigated.
