Abstract :
A nonlinear controller based on the property of differential flatness is proposed for the control of productivity of a continuous bioreactor. This controller uses a habituating control strategy to coordinate the use of both dilution rate and substrate feed concentration, so that the cost of control action is minimized. A nonlinear observer has also been designed to estimate the time varying model parameters.
