Abstract
The paper describes a diagnostic method for dynamical systems whose state or output signals can only be measured through a quantiser. The diagnosis is based on a discrete-event description of the continuous-variable system. Quantised measurement sequences obtained from the process are used to determine the probability of the existence of faults. The method is experimentally tested at the Three-Tanks System and compared with other diagnostic methods.
