Abstract :
This paper is focused on various image filtering techniques. In the day to day scenario one clicks and share images at the spur of the moment on various social networking platforms. The image sharing has become an inevitable part of one´s daily life. Even if one takes pictures using the modern Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras it requires a fair amount of effort to filter images. Image filtering is the technique of removing or reducing noise from a contaminated image. There are various image filters which have been successfully implemented on software tools. Each filter focuses on reducing a particular type of noise from the image. In this paper a comprehensive study has been presented with primary focus on various image filtering techniques.
