Abstract :
A vehicle thermal management system (VTMS), applied efficient cooling control strategy, has been developed for a power-split hybrid electric vehicle (PSHEV). A numerical integrated simulation model which integrates the VTMS model and vehicle powertrain system model is developed to investigate the dynamic thermal responses and VTMS power consumption of PSHEV under different driving conditions. The heat transfer law of typical driving conditions is achieved by the simulation analysis. Two cooling control strategies are established by the heat transfer law. The thermal responses and VTMS power consumption of PSHEV using different cooling control strategies over a representative combined test driving cycle are estimated. The results demonstrate the cooling control strategy based on fuzzy logic has better performance for the PSHEV on the thermal responses and power consumption saving.
