Abstract :
Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) becomes an interesting topology especially for high voltage applications. Since, the Direct-Quadrature (D-Q) model of the MMC is not existent in the literature so far, in this paper, the D-Q model of the MMC is extracted analytically and simulated using SIMULINK/MATLAB. To verify the MMC D-Q model, the result is compared with the ABC average and switching model of the MMC. The D-Q model of the MMC can be used to design and simplify the control of the inner and outer loop parameters of the MMC.
