Abstract :
This paper proposed a hybrid sinusoidal-pulse current charging strategy (HSPC) for Li-ion battery in electric vehicle application. Phase shifting of pulse currents generated in paralleled boost converters is employed to overcome the power limitation in the sinusoidal ripple current (SRC) charging method. Simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the charger efficiency of the hardware and energy transfer efficiency for the battery get improved by the proposed HSPC method. The flexibility for the topology integration with vehicle traction motor drivers can save the hardware cost and volume for the proposed charging strategy.
