Abstract
The equations of the linear theory of thin shells are used to investigate the stress-strain state of cylindrical shells loaded along the circumference of the cross-sections. A similar type of loading is implemented in the pipelines, when the displacements of some cross-sections of the pipes known from experiment are set. The unknowns of this problem are expanded in the form of series in the angular coordinate. The coefficients of the series and equivalent forces are determined numerically. As there is a significant edge effect in similar problems, the Godunov method of the orthogonal sweep is used, that provides the acceptable accuracy of the numerical solution of the linear boundary value problems.
