Abstract :
MPI [1] detects the nonlinear response of superparamagnetic particles directly without any background signal. This leads to the problem of getting an image with no information about the surrounding tissue, which can be important for medical applications. It relies therefore on the anatomical background information obtained by MRI or CT. Several attempts combining both imaging modalities (MPI and MRI) in one device were shown in [2] [3]. In [2] a Traveling Wave MPI scanner (TWMPI) [4] was used together with a low field MRI (LFMRI) scanner. The theoretical approach of using the TWMPI scanner itself for generating a homogenous magnetic field for MRI was shown in [5]. The first results of this new approach are presented in this abstract.
