Abstract
A big challenge in Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) is the separation of the actual nanoparticle signal from the signal induced in the receive coils, as it is a superposition of the drive field (DF) signal and the six orders of magnitude smaller particle signal. Usually this problem is addressed by applying a notch filter to remove the drive field signal as well as the particle signal at the excitation frequency prior to amplifying the signal. However, this removes the strongest particle signal as well. This for example introduces problems to the reconstruction which have to be addressed, e.g. DC drifts in x-space MPI.
