Abstract
We have developed a state-of-the-art, user-friendly, computational electromagnetic software tool. The tool enables prediction of in situ antenna radiated patterns, active port impedance and co-site interaction effects for electrically large finite array antennas as installed on large and detailed platforms. Yet the techniques used maintain complete geometric detail and full numerical electromagnetic rigor. Our solver uses a hybrid technique conceived at The Ohio State University (OSU) that combines the finite element domain decomposition method (FEM-DDM) and integral equation (IE) solvers. Through parallel processing on a computer cluster, our tool can solve problems with multiple antenna arrays mounted on the surface of a platform body. We have validated the predictions of our solver against measured data.
