  • Abstract
In this paper, we present a methodology for manipulating the scattering signature of an object using a single layer ultrathin metasurface. In contrast to previous work on metasurface cloaks where isotropic impedance surfaces have been considered, the metasurface coating considered here has both non-vanishing tangential and radial responses. As a result, its anisotropy can be engineered to tailor the scattering properties of a coated object with a moderate size beyond the quasi-static limit. As two proof-of-concept examples, near-perfect metasurface-based electromagnetic cloaking and illusion effects will be presented.
