Abstract :
A 3D electromagnetic time domain model of a particle accelerator cavity was generated for the measurements of beam position using a patch antenna and (for comparison) a pickup by applying a signal at 3GHz. The variations in position from the central axis were modelled using CST Microwave Studio. The results demonstrated that the model can be applied to accelerator beam position monitoring for optimization of its performance.
