Abstract :
In this paper, an enhanced frequency and pattern reconfigurable antenna for portable device is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of an excitation element, four parasitic elements and eight radio frequency switches. The experiment results show that the proposed antenna can operate at 0.83-0.93GHz and 1.65-1.90GHz for portable device applications. The frequency and the pattern reconfigurable characteristics are achieved by controlling the radio switches installed on the excitation element and the parasitic elements. The simulation results demonstrated that the proposed antenna can achieve three different modes of the pattern at each frequency.
