Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. The Egyptian National URSI Committee (NRSC) was first established on February 29th, 1976, and its first meeting was held on May 15th, 1976, headed by the Late Prof. Abd EI-Samei Mostafa (Fellow IEEE), and former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University. The Egypt´s National Radio Science Committee is now included in the National Communications and Radio Science Committee (NCRSC) which is a branch of the Communications and Information Technology Council, the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The objectives of Egypt´s NRSC (which include those of URSI) are to stimulate and to coordinate studies in the field of radio sciences and - in particular - within the following areas: a) Promoting and organizing research involving international cooperation as well as the discussion and dissemination of the results of such research b) Encouraging the adoption of standard methods of measuring instruments used in scientific work c) Stimulating and coordinating studies related to scientific aspects of telecommunications using electromagnetic waves, whether guided or unguided. The work of the URSI is operated through 10 commissions: Commission A Electromagnetic Metrology; Commission B Field and Waves; Commission C Radio Communication and Signal Processing Systems; Commission D Electronics and Photonics; Commission E Electromagnetic Noise and Interference; Commission F Wave Propagation and Remote Sensing; Commission G Ionospheric Radio and Propagation; Commission H Waves in Plasma; Commission J Radio Astronomy; and Commission K Electromagnetics in Biology and Medicine.
