Abstract :
Institute of Atmospheric Physics has measured in cooperation with University of Pardubice atmospheric attenuation on experimental FSO link on 830 and 1550 nm for 4 years. Experimental site is located at meteorological observatory on the isolated mountain with frequent fog, low clouds and strong wind occurrence. Measured attenuation is correlated with the mean horizontal wind speed, mean 3D wind speed, turbulence intensity, turbulent energy, standard deviation of the wind speed and the highest wind gust. Simple empirical models estimating attenuation of FSO link from wind parameters are formulated and verified through our experimental activity.
