Abstract :
□ Evolution of telecommunications infrastructure is leading to a single common network to handle multiple data types — Carriers are moving towards eliminating TDM based services □ Seven key NAS modernization programs account for over 87% of the existing TDM based services □ FAA needs a strategic vision to minimize impact of TDM-to-IP migration on NAS operations. Three-pronged approach recommended Expedite the implementation of the seven FAA programs — Develop guidance for programs — Determine effective deployment strategies for IP transition □ Implementation of transition may require analysis driven by geography, FAA program impact and business decisions by telecommunication carriers.
