Abstract :
Preventive maintenance based on failure prediction may improve the reliability of power equipment, such as Uninterruptible Power Supplies, by anticipating failures in power converters. Markov chain analysis is ideally suited for building the required prediction model. This paper discussed such technique applied to UPS systems, presenting sample results from real field installations.
