Abstract
Despite considerable empirical research on the contribution of information technology (IT) capability to firm performance, the constructs used to operationalize IT capability vary. This may be due to individual scholars active in different research domains (e.g. supply chain or customer service improvement) examining IT capability from multiple perspectives. Consequently, this variation may diffuse our understanding of IT capability. The purpose of this paper is to identify generic constructs of IT capability. Based on our systematic literature review we suggest four key constructs: organizational, people, relational and technical IT competence. In this poster we define each construct, develop hypotheses and present a conceptual model. We believe our attempt to identify and define these four constructs improves our overall understanding of IT capability.
