Abstract :
This work investigates the performance of distributed control schemes in mitigating the effects of a switching attack in smart grid systems. The control schemes use feedback linearization to inject and absorb power in order to achieve transient stability. On the other hand, an adversary utilizes fast-acting energy storage systems in conducting a switching attack in order to destabilize parts of the power grid. Numerical results demonstrate the performance of the control schemes during a switching attack that targets the New England 10-generator 39-bus power system.
