Abstract :
After a discussion on the potential benefits of the use of digital predistortion (DPD) on high power amplifiers (HPA) in phased array radar systems, current work is presented on amplifier and predistorter modeling towards this goal. Simulated HPA performance results utilizing DPD demonstrate a significant decrease in spectral spreading versus non-predistorted waveforms, and testing DPD on a physical HPA verifies these findings. The demonstrated DPD method has great potential for application in coded waveform phased array and MIMO radar systems.
