Abstract :
Successful developments of high quality traffic management and information system require a rich database in order to test and carry out more experiments. In fact, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) consist of understanding phenomena as well as predicting interactions and behaviours of vehicles and also the drivers in the road network. Therefore, the development of ITS should often be based on real data to be more useful and practical in real world. For that, in this paper, we presented a 100 GB database of geographical coordinates gathered from Global Positioning Systems (GPS) receivers embedded in several vehicles. This database contains many other information such as speed which are interesting to be processed. Several preprocessing steps are performed to use the GPS datasets such as conversion and fusion. Also, we give in this text an overview of the data. Moreover, as a result of the availability of our data, we generated a road map of Tunisia. We compare its geometry to roads provided by Google maps, the well-known commercial digital map. In fact, data obtained are undergone some data mining techniques such as clustering with k-means and finally, we explore the speed of vehicles to extract and mine some necessary criteria and parameters useful to improve quality of traffic management.
