Abstract :
In this paper, a decentralized wireless network based on OFDMA with multiuser diversity allocation has been modelled and simulated. Two different decentralized subcarrier allocation schemes have been presented, which are the collision subcarrier detection scheme and the incremental subcarrier allocation scheme. The convergence time of these decentralized subcarrier allocation schemes with and without Multiuser Diversity Allocation (MUDA) has been investigated, while their performance comparison with the centralized multiuser diversity allocation in terms of channel gains and channel capacity also has been performed. When the system with MUDA is compared to one without, results show a channel capacity improvement varying from 21% to 49% depending upon the number of subcarriers per transmitter. This is obtained at the cost of 0.3% to 23% more convergence time.
