Abstract :
This article describes the simulation of a photonic crystal based Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) biosensor on InP substrate at 1.55μm wavelength. The biosensor is polarization independent and could be monolithically integrated with laser source and photodetector on a chip. The structure of MZI-based optical biosensor is optimized to reach an optical transmission power more than 90%. Various analyte with refractive indices of 1.35-1.65 is examined to obtain the peak wavelength shift.
