Abstract :
In case of strong earthquake motions, rigid-plastic oscillator can be used effectively to evaluate the maximum plastic displacement. Construction of rigid-plastic spectrum provides easier way to calculate dynamic response of rigid plastic structure for any given earthquake. It can be considered as upper bound to the maximum plastic displacement of any elastic-plastic oscillator under the given earthquake motion.
