Abstract :
Studies on diffusion of multi generations of technological innovations through a population of potential buyers have seen unprecedented impetus over the past few decades. Both academicians and technocrats derive deeper insights by studying dynamic sales behavior of multiple generations of high-technology products. In this paper Discrete Norton Bass (DNB) model, which is a discrete multi generational framework of the original Norton Bass (NB) [6] model is proposed. We also propose a unified framework by suggesting three different discrete multi generational innovation diffusion models in the present work. This discrete multi generational modeling framework overcomes time-interval bias, one of the existing limitations of continuous time based models. Estimating parameters of the proposed models is very simple and succinct and is performed on real life data set using SAS Proc model. Empirical results show that the proposed DNB model is mathematically consistent with the NB model. Additionally, other proposed models provides for greater insights into the process of multi generational products diffusion process.
