Abstract :
The main advantages of a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) generator over a normal-conducting power generator are its lightweight nature and compact size owing to the significantly improved magnetic loading of the magnetic field coil [1]-[3]. However, there remain many hurdles to overcome before the commercialization of superconducting generators. First, there is a need to quantitatively determine the operating current (Iop) of the field magnet of a superconducting generator.
