Abstract :
In this paper a novel magnetically compounding propulsion motor (MCPM) is studied. The main characteristic of the motor is that it is composed of a high speed rotor and a low speed rotor, and it can be output a large torque at a low speed through the modulation of ferromagnetic pole pieces with the function which can reduce the speed and enhance the torque. The operating principle of the motor is discussed and its steady-state and transient performances are analyzed by using circuit-field-motion coupled time-stepping finite elements method. Finally a prototype is manufactured and the experiment results are agreed with the calculation results.
