Abstract :
In the literature, several designs of asymmetrical machines were attempted. However, some designs are to minimize the torque ripple while others tend to be concept designs with little industrial relevance. This design is aimed for easy assembly of the rotor winding and improved electromagnetic performance of the synchronous generator. The structure of the proposed machine´s rotor coil can be wound separately, be slid through the tip of the rotor onto the rotor pole, and then be fixed in position by a non-magnetic shield to counteract the centrifugal force. Clearly, the machine is designed to operate unidirectional, which is not an issue for applications such as gen-sets, wind turbines and hybrid electric vehicles.
