  • Abstract
Flux-modulation power-split devices for hybrid electrical vehicle (HEV)s have been obtaining attentions in recent years due to its brushless and high torque density. However, the flux-modulation power-split devices always suffered from low power factor, which is even lower than 0.6 and results in higher cost and larger volume in the converter. This paper proposes a novel dual mechanical port, spoke array, vernier permanent magnet (DMSA-VPM) machine with high torque density and power factor for HEVs. The operation principle and the electromagnetic performance, such as torque performance of two output shafts, power factor, etc., are investigated by finite element algorithm (FEA).
