Abstract :
In this paper, a double-sided air-cored tubular generator (DSTG) suitable for the free-piston energy conversion systems is researched. An improved arrangement of the permanent magnet (PM) array which can enhance the power density of the generator has been proposed. The analytical model of the DSTG is built and the expressions of the flux density, the force and the EMF are derived based on the magnetic vector potential method. The optimization of the DSTG is carried out by using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The accuracy of the analytical results is verified by the experiments.
