Abstract :
Traveling wave induction heating (TWIH) is a promising technique that allows to continuously heat thin metallic nonmagnetic strips with high energy efficiency and low cost of the installation, due to the relatively low frequency it uses. Researchers have made further progresses in this area. On the other hand, up to now the industrial applications of TWIH are still rare because this method intrinsically produces an inhomogeneous heating. The crossed TWIH system was developed from the traditional TWIH system, by shifting the lower inductor in the strip´s moving direction from the first teeth-teeth position to the first teeth-slot position, with the same schemes of coil connections from the traditional TW inductor in order to obtain a traveling wave field.
