Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel 3-DOF deflection type PM motor with a new three-layer “butterfly” type rotor structure and analyzes its magnetic field, torque and back EMF based on analytical and finite element analysis methods. The three-dimensional model of the magnetic field and torque and different MMFs exerted on the torque characteristics are computed and discussed. Finally, the magnetic field model and the back EMF model have been validated by the experiments on a prototype motor. The validation results show that the theoretical analysis agrees with the experimental results, which verifies the accuracy of the developed models and provides a theoretical foundation for the further optimization and improvement of the novel deflection type PM motor .
